Social Networking

Youth programs and Book Clubs in the library could definitely benefit from social networking using my space.

Online Applications

It seems to be a very long way around collaborating, it also takes away the face to face communication in dealing with other colleagues and the public. However I can see that it might be useful for meetings where staff are spread over various locations, this would allow everyone's input regardless of their location.

Mashups

These would be useful to create maps on our website for library locations, maybe for storytime or holiday activity sessions to create promotional material.

Podcasts

This would be really useful for the free information talks we provide on a monthly basis in the library. As we take bookings and limit numbers Podcasting would allow others to access the talk via our website at a later date. I have enjoyed this weeks technology the most so far!!

Slamming the Boards

I can see the benefit of this however where we currently work the demographic of our clientele would find it extremely difficult to use this technology. Also I can see that there is the possibility of people abusing the rating and review process, posting inappropriate material etc. as always seems to happen with public libraries!

This could be useful for people who have large collections of books. By being able to access my catalogue through my mobile might stop me from coming home after booksales with yet another copy of that great book I've always wanted to have!!
